Natalie Abruzzo Talks With Refinery29 About "The Sixty-Six Percent"
Kelsey Miller of Refinery29 interviewed Natalie Abruzzo for the launch of their new initiative, The 67% Project, which aims to shed light on the invisible majority - aka - plus-size women. Miller wanted to chat with Abruzzo about her documentary, "The Sixty-Six Percent," since her project is highlighting how the majority of women are treated as the minority in women's wear by showcasing the annual event, Full Figured Fashion Week, which creates an equitable space for plus-size women and women's apparel.
Excerpt: In the last two years, FFFW has emerged from the shadow of NYFW as a noteworthy fashion event in its own right, thanks primarily the work of its founder, Gwen DeVoe. “She has made it her mission to be as inclusive as possible in size, shape, and race,” said Abruzzo, who interviewed DeVoe for the film. “This message resonates with women who are excluded from beauty and fashion time and time again.”
